Aloha!

We are saddened to inform you that we lost one of our dearest friends and ukulele player James “Bo” Suyeishi on Saturday. Bo played with many South Bay ukulele groups and will always be remembered for his friendly disposition. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. A memorial service for Bo will be held at the San Jose Buddhist Church Betsuin on January 29 at 4:00 PM.

There is still space available for Herb Ohta Jr’s workshop and concert this Saturday, January 14th at the Yu-Ai Kai Senior Center in San Jose. Herb will be teaching his original composition Haleakalā Sunset from his latest album My Ukulele World. The workshop starts at 7:00 PM followed by the concert around 8:45 PM. Cost of the workshop is $45.00 and $25.00 for the concert, or attend both for $60.00. For more information or to sign up, please call the store (408) 998-2640.

Annette Rodrigues will be leading two workshops on using the apps (1) DropBox and (2) OnSong, for musicians. While it’s geared for iPad users, the DropBox class can apply to other tablets as well. OnSong is for iPad users only. DropBox provides a place to keep all your music, so you don’t have the mess of paper and binders. You can keep all of your music in one place and also back up music sheets as well as share your music with other musicians. With OnSong, you can keep all of your music in one place, transpose your music instantly, make notes to yourself and create set lists. The workshop is being taught through Senior Net in Almaden. Membership fees are being waived so the cost of each course is only $10.00. Each course consist of two sessions, DropBox on Jan 23 and 30 from 11:30 to 1:30, and OnSong on Feb 6 and 13 from 11:30 to 1:30. For more information, please contact Annette at annetter20@gmail.com

We will be closed January 17th – 23rd to attend the winter NAMM show in Anaheim. We’ve received a sneak peek at some of the new products that will be showcased at the show and look forward to seeing them in person. Hopefully, we will have some great new products after we return!
