Mark your calendars! Kamaka Ukulele will be coming to San Jose on April 23rd as part of their 100th Anniversary celebration. The program will start at 7:30 at the Yu-Ai Kai Senior Center, 588 N. 4th Street San Jose. The evening will start off with a showing of the PBS Craft In America segment featuring Kamaka. A Q & A with Chris and Casey Kamaka about their company, instruments, and the video followed by testimonials from some of their current artists. Performances by Herb Ohta, Jr and Bryan Tolentino, Kalei Gamiano and the Side Order Band will finish off the evening.
In addition to door prizes, we will have a silent auction for a Kamaka HF-2 100th Anniversary model signed by the Kamaka family. Retail price of the ukulele is $1,195.00, with the autographs, PRICELESS! Proceeds from the auction will benefit programs at Yu-Ai Kai. Kamaka will have hats and t-shirts available as well as artist CDs. Tickets for this very special event are $30.00 (available at Ukulele Source) with part of the proceeds going to Yu-Ai Kai.
