A Dream Comes True!

Our dream of opening 'Ukulele Source came true in September 2008. We also had another business, Pumehana Productions where we, along with our partner and good friend Susie Kagami of Hawai'i Music Live produced and promoted Hawaiian music concerts, workshops, and private lessons with legends like Herb Ohta, Jr., Ohta-San, George Kahumoku, Jr, Keoki Kahumoku, and Nathan Aweau. It was surprising how many people would inquire about where they could purchase a ‘ukulele. So with the encouragement and support of Susie, Herb, Jr and our other good friend, Jim Nagareda of Nikkei Traditions, we opened our door on September 5, 2008. We wanted more than just a ‘ukulele store. We wanted a place where people could come in, check out all the different styles, makers, and most importantly, be able to play them and hear what they actually sound like before making a purchase. We carry what we feel are the best ‘ukuleles to fit any pocketbook. A lot of research went into our final decision to carry KoAloha, Kanile’a and Ohana 'ukuleles. In addition, we are always interested to hear what people want or need. Just ask us! If we don’t have it, we’ll see what we can do to get it for you. So, stop by our store and check out what we have, or come and just talk story! We are so grateful for all of the new friends we have made over the past few months, not only the performers that we have come to know, but also our customers.
A big mahalo to Susie, Herb and Jim for making our dream come true. Also, mahalo to Rodney Takahashi of 'Ukulele Jams, our 'ukulele teacher for all he has taught us over the past few years.
